“Die Welt ist nicht immer schwarz und weiß. Manchmal ist sie grau gezeichnet und unvorhersehbar. Wir liefern den Soundtrack dazu.” So lautet das Mantra von Florian Greys brandneuen Epos “Destroying Kingdoms”, welches am 08.09.2023 mit insgesamt 11 fetten Tracks veröffentlicht wird.

Was sich anfühlt wie eine Serenade zwischen geistiger Gesundheit und den Tiefen des menschlichen Herzens, erhebt sich “Destroying Kingdoms” aus der Dunkelheit und bietet eine Achterbahnfahrt durch tiefe emotionale Täler auf der Suche nach dem Funken der Hoffnung. Florian Grey sind mit einem Paukenschlag zurück und waren noch nie härter, intimer und direkter zugleich: Wie ein zerbrechliches Herz, gehalten von einem Metallkorsett um seinen Inhalt vor dem völligen Zerbrechen zu bewahren. Der typische Sound der Band ist eine Kombination aus Dark Rock, Pop und Alternative, die sich in großen Melodien, schweren Gitarrenriffs, eingängigen Synthesizern und klassischen Arrangements zeigt. Wiedergegeben von einer unverwechselbaren Stimme, die genau weiß, welche Geschichten sie erzählt.

“Lie To Me” erzählt die Geschichte von jemandem, der sich selbst und alle Menschen um ihn herum belügt. Er so tut, als wäre er ein großartiger Mensch, aber es ist eine Illusion einer Person, die narzisstisch, egomanisch, arrogant und hinterhältig ist. Eine wahre Geschichte. Dieser Song sollte genau jener Person, der er gewidmet ist, einen Spiegel vorhalten.

“The Great Nowhere” ist ein fiktiver Song über neue Türen, die sich öffnen. Das Loslassen eines früheren Lebens und das Eintauchen in ein neues Leben voller neuer Empfindungen, Gefühle und Sehnsüchte. Allerdings ohne die Erinnerungen, gelernten Lektionen und Bindungen der vorherigen Inkarnation zu verlieren. Alles für die Liebe. “The great nowhere” ist inspiriert von einem Kurzroman von John William Polidori aus dem Jahr 1816.

“Nothing Left To Love” ist der bisher wohl rasanteste Song von Florian Grey. Der Song handelt von dem Moment, wenn man von einer Situation oder Zeit so erschöpft ist, dass man nichts mehr ertragen kann, nichts mehr zu geben hat und scheinbar unfähig ist, jemals wieder etwas zu fühlen… Im Grunde genommen geht es darum, dass jemand sich immer selbst zum Opfer macht, indem er den anderen als den Bösen beschuldigt, was dazu führt, dass die andere Person die “aufgezwungene Rolle” annimmt, ständig der Böse zu sein, nur um Frieden zu finden.

“Starless Skies” ist Florian Greys Antwort auf Rihannas “we found love in a hopeless place”. Ein ziemlich eingängiges, bittersüßes College-Rock-Riff trifft auf melancholische Lyrics. Yin und Yang sozusagen.  Der Song ist auch eine wahre Geschichte über den Rückblick auf eine Zeit, in der zwei junge Turteltäubchen das Leben miteinander erkundeten und alles möglich schien.

Vorproduziert von Hilton Theissen und produziert, gemischt und gemastert in den Chameleon Studios von Chris Harms und seinem Team, besinnen sich Florian Grey mit ihrem neuen Album “Destroying Kingdoms” auf ihre Wurzeln und heben ihren einzigartigen Sound einmal mehr auf das nächste Level. “The world is not always black and white. Sometimes it is painted grey and unforeseeable. So we are delivering it ́s soundtrack.“ This is the mantra of Florian Grey’s brand-new epic “Destroying Kingdoms”, which will be released on 08th September 2023 with a total of 11 powerful tracks.

 What feels like a serenade between mental sanity and the depth of the human heart, “Destroying Kingdoms” rises out of the dark, offering a roller coaster ride through deep emotional valleys in search for the spark of hope. Florian Grey are back with a bang and have never been harder, more intimate and direct all at once – like a fragile heart wrapped in a metal corset to prevent its core from complete breakage. The band’s typical sound is a combination of Dark Rock, Pop and Alternative which shows itself in big melodies, heavy guitar riffs, catchy synthesizers and classical arrangements. All is rendered by a distinctive voice which knows all so well what stories it is telling.

“Lie To Me” tells you the story about someone who lies to himself and all the people around this person. To pretend to be such a great person but it’s an illusion of a person who is narcissistic, egomaniac, arrogant and backstabbing. A true story and this song should be a held up mirror to this person it is dedicated to.

“The Great Nowhere” is a fictional song about new doors opening. A letting go of a former life and diving into a new one full of new sensations, emotions and desires without losing the memories, life lessons and attachments of the old one. All for love. “The great nowhere” is inspired by a 1816 short novel by John William Polidori.

“Nothing Left To Love” is Florian Grey’s fastest song up to date. This song is about the momentum when you are so drained of a situation or time when you are unable to take something anymore, you have nothing more to give and you seem unable to feel ever again… Basically about someone always victimizing himself by blaming the other as the bad guy in a toxic way which wrong leads the other person to embrace the „imposed role” of constantly being the bad one just to find peace.

“Starless skies” is Florian Grey’s answer to Rihanna’s „we found love in a hopeless place”. A rather catchy bittersweet college rock riff meets melancholy lyrics. Yin and Yang so to say.  Also a true story about looking back at a time of two young lovebirds exploring live with each other & everything seemed dreameable & possible.

Pre-produced by Hilton Theissen and produced, mixed and mastered at the Chameleon Studios by Chris Harms and his team, with their new album “Destroying Kingdoms”, Florian Grey embrace their roots and lift their unique sound once more to the next level.
