Danke, dass du dir für mich Zeit nimmst! Ich freue mich sehr. Stelle dich doch und dein Projekt kurz vor.

Demian

Sehr gerne, ich bedanke mich für die Einladung! Ich bin Demian und habe 2010 das Solo-Projekt MissSuicide ins Leben gerufen. Das ist eine Weile her, allerdings gibt es erst seit 2018 öffentlichen Output. Musikalisch ist das am ehesten im Dark Electro / Industrial Bereich anzusiedeln. Bis auf ein paar Ausnahmen ist die Musik komplett instrumental und wird mit Samples aus Film/Fernsehen und sonstigen Medien abgerundet.

Wie bist du zur Musik gekommen?

Demian

Musik gehört habe ich schon immer. Meine Eltern kommen beide aus der Szene, deswegen war ich schon als Kind mit Einstürzende Neubauten und ähnlichem konfrontiert. Ca. 2008 wollte ich dann Schlagzeug spielen, da ich gerade den Metal entdeckt habe. Um die selbe Zeit herum habe ich auch das erste Mal von Suicide Commando entdeckt und war von dem Sound total begeistert. So kam es dann, dass ich relativ lange Schlagzeug in einer lokalen Metalband gespielt habe und gleichzeitig das Projekt gegründet habe. Bei der Band bin ich allerdings später ausgestiegen und fokussiere mich seitdem auch auf Synthesizer.

wie entsteht bei dir ein Song?

Demian

Das ist ganz unterschiedlich. Manchmal entsteht ein Song spontan aus einer Jam-Session, manchmal habe ich eine Idee für eine Melodie auch nur im Kopf. Sobald die Idee aber steht, produziere ich eine erste Skizze mit grobem Aufbau, und verfeinere dass dann immer weiter. In der Regel gibt es von meinen Songs bis zu 20 Versionen, von denen ich mir dann die beste aussuche.

Was bedeutet für dich Musik?

Demian

Musik ist Vielfalt, in meinen Augen gleichwohl eine der wenigen Sprachen, die jeder Mensch versteht. Unabhängig von Schubladen und Genres hat Musik immer eine Daseinsberechtigung wenn es Menschen gibt, denen sie hilft oder sie auf irgendeine Art berührt. Für mich selbst ist Musik eine Art der Selbsteflektion und Therapie – klingt abgedroschen und ich bin nur einer von Millionen Künstlern, der das so sieht – stimmt aber nach wie vor und bringt es gut auf den Punkt.

Demian

Spannend! Ich versuche mal bisher unbekannte Fakten zu nennen:
1. Schnecken sind meine Lieblingstiere.
2. “Selbstmord Auf Raten” ist bisher der einzige Song von mir von dem ich mir wünschen würde, dass er nicht existiert.
3. Ich habe viele Jahre lang aktiv Breakdance getanzt.
4. Ich arbeite in der Normalität als Buchhändler.
5. Wenn ich ein Album kaufe, höre ich es beim ersten Mal komplett durch, ohne nebenbei etwas anderes zu tun oder einen Song zu skippen, selbst wenn er mir nicht gefallen sollte.

Ich hab die besten Fans, die man sich vorstellen kann. Danke für euren Support und die jahrelange Unterstützung. Ohne euch wäre das Projekt lange nicht da, wo es jetzt ist!

Am 01.09. wird eine neue Single inklusive Musikvideo erscheinen – ansonsten arbeite ich derzeit fleißig an einem neuen Album. Konzertdaten gibt’s aktuell nicht, ich bin aber zuversichtlich, dass da noch die ein oder andere Show kommen wird.

With pleasure, thank you for the invitation! My name is Demian and I started the solo project MissSuicide in 2010. That was a while ago, however, there is only since 2018 public output. Musically, it’s most likely in the dark electro / industrial realm. With a few exceptions, the music is completely instrumental and rounded out with samples from film / television and other media.

How did you get into music?

Demian

I have always listened to music. My parents both come from the scene, so I was already confronted with Einstürzende Neubauten and the like as a child. Around 2008 I wanted to play drums, because I just discovered metal. Around the same time I also discovered Suicide Commando for the first time and I was totally inspired by the sound. So I ended up playing drums in a local metal band for quite a long time and founded the project at the same time. But I left the band later and since then I’ve been focusing on synthesizers as well.

how do you create a song?

Demian

It’s very different. Sometimes a song develops spontaneously from a jam session, sometimes I just have an idea for a melody in my head. But as soon as I have the idea, I produce a first sketch with a rough structure, and then refine that further and further. Usually there are up to 20 versions of my songs, from which I then choose the best one.

What does music mean to you?

Demian

Music is diversity, in my eyes nevertheless one of the few languages that everyone understands. Regardless of pigeonholes and genres, music always has a right to exist if there are people it helps or touches in some way. For myself, music is a kind of self-reflection and therapy – sounds trite and I’m only one of millions of artists who see it that way – but it’s still true and gets to the point.

Demian

Exciting! I’ll try to name some previously unknown facts:

1. snails are my favorite animals.
2. “Selbstmord Auf Raten” is so far the only song of mine that I wish didn’t exist.
3. i actively breakdanced for many years.
4. i work in normality as a bookseller.
5. when I buy an album, I listen to it completely the first time without doing anything else on the side or skipping a song, even if I don’t like it.

I have the best fans you can imagine. Thank you for your support and years of support. Without you the project wouldn’t be where it is now!

On 01.09. a new single including music video will be released – otherwise I’m currently working hard on a new album. There are no concert dates at the moment, but I’m confident that there will be one or the other show.
