Hallo, ich bin Ryan Webb von WEBB. Ich bin der Sänger, Gitarrist, Mischer und Produzent der Band. Außerdem gehören Luca Massidda am Bass und Nigel Powell am Schlagzeug zur Band.

Wann und wie bist du zur Musik gekommen?

Ich war etwa 12 Jahre alt, als ich anfing zu singen, und lernte ein paar Jahre später Gitarre spielen.

Lebst du hauptberuflich von der Musik? Wenn nein, was ist dein Beruf?

Ich bin Vollzeitmusiker – aber ich verdiene nicht wirklich meinen Lebensunterhalt damit!

Wie entsteht ein Song? Zuerst die Melodie, oder zuerst der Text?

Manchmal schreibe ich zuerst die Melodie, dann schicke ich sie meiner Frau, die den Text schreibt. Sie schreibt alle Texte. Aber manchmal schreibt Sonya den Text und die Musik wird danach geschrieben!
Jetzt, wo Luca und Nigel in der Band sind, ist es besser, denn jetzt schreiben wir zum ersten Mal gemeinsam neue Musik.

Woher nimmst du deine Inspiration?

Abends schaue ich viele Filme und lasse mich oft von einem Film inspirieren, der mich interessieren könnte. Manchmal inspirieren mich auch meine Träume! Wenn ich tagsüber viel Zeit in meinem Studio mit meiner Gitarre verbracht habe, brauche ich sehr lange, um abzuschalten.
Wenn ich dann endlich einschlafe, beginne ich anscheinend zu träumen.

Nach welchen Kriterien wird die Setlist zusammengestellt?

Das Stück mit der größten Wirkung wird als erstes Stück ausgewählt, und das Gleiche gilt für das letzte Stück. Wir neigen dazu, die ersten beiden Stücke Rücken an Rücken zu spielen. Im mittleren Teil des Sets gibt es dann einen langsamen Teil – aber nicht lange!

Was bedeutet Musik für dich?

Alles. Musik gibt mir ein Gefühl der Erfüllung und Freude, wenn ich ein Stück fertig geschrieben habe.

Welche Musik hörst du privat?

Neben Metal von Bands wie Gojira, Disturbed, Metallica usw. höre ich viel Country von …… und auch Billy Eilish.

Gibt es musikalische Vorbilder?

So viele, vor allem Gitarristen. Ich wollte Gitarre spielen, nachdem ich mir Videos von Yngwie Malmsteen und Joe Satriani angesehen hatte – ich habe Gitarre spielen gelernt, indem ich mir die Videos immer und immer wieder angesehen habe! Ich bin auch von Steve Vai inspiriert…….

1. Ich würde mit meiner Band gerne außerhalb des Vereinigten Königreichs auftreten, insbesondere in Deutschland.
2. Ich denke, dass ich ein Perfektionist bin – ich brauche manchmal viel länger als ich sollte, um Dinge zu tun, weil ich sie immer beim ersten Mal richtig machen will.
3. Ich liebe Essen! Ich meine, ich liebe Essen WIRKLICH!
4. Ich halte mich gerne auf dem Laufenden über die neueste Technologie.
5. Ich mag keine unechten Menschen

Introduce yourself briefly / band introduction

Hi I’m Ryan Webb from WEBB. I am the vocalist, guitarist, mixer and producer for the band. Also in the band are Luca Massidda on bass and Nigel Powell on drums.

When and how did you come to music?

I was about 12 years old when I starting singing, and learned how to play the guitar a few years later.

Do you live from music full-time? If no, what is your profession?

I am a full time musician – but I don’t really earn a living from it!

How is a song created? First the melody, or first the lyrics?

Sometimes the melody is written first, then I send it to my wife to write the lyrics. She writes all the lyrics. But sometimes, Sonya will write the lyrics and then the music gets written afterwards! It’s better now that Luca and Nigel are in the band, as for the first time we are now writing new music together.

What is your source of inspiration?

In the evenings I watch a lot of films and quite often get inspiration from a film I might be interested in. Sometimes my dreams inspire me! If I’ve spent a lot of time in my studio during the day with my guitar, it takes me a long time to shut down. When I do eventually fall asleep, I seem to start dreaming.

According to which criteria is the setlist put together?

The track with the most impact is chosen to play first track, and that’s the same for the last track. We tend to play the first two tracks back to back. Then the middle part of the set will have a slow section – but not for long!

What does music mean to you?

Everything. Music gives me a sense of fullfillment and joy when I finish writing a piece of music.

What music do you listen to privately?

Apart from metal by bands like Gojira, Disturbed, Metallica etc, I listen to a lot of country by……and I also listen to Billy Eilish.

Are there any musical role models?

So many, mostly guitarists. I wanted to play guitar after watching Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani videos – I learned how to play guitar by watching the videos over and over again! I’m also inspired by Steve Vai…….

1. I’d love my band to perform outside of the UK, in particular Germany
2. I would like tot hink I’m a perfectionist – I sometimes take much longer than I should to do things as I always want to get them right first time.
3. I love food! I mean, I REALLY love food!
