Review: Lord of the Lost – Blood and Glitter

Lord of the Lost, wer die Jungs kennt, weiß, dass es nie normal gibt. Aber diesmal haben sie sich selbst übertroffen. Ganz überraschend und völlig unerwartet, quasi über Nacht, veröffentlichten sie am 30. Dezember ihr achtes Studioalbum “Blood & Glitter”

Bandkopf Chris Harms verrät, was die Dark-Rock-Band zu diesem Veröffentlichungsplan veranlasste:

“In einer Zeit, in der der Marketing-Wahnsinn für jedes Album immer länger zu dauern scheint und die Hälfte der Platte – oder mehr – schon sechs Monate vor der Veröffentlichung durch vorher ausgekoppelte Singles bekannt ist, damit die hohen Vorverkaufszahlen das höchstmögliche Charts-Resultat erzielen, geht das, worum es eigentlich gehen sollte, immer mehr verloren: die pure Magie, ein Album eurer Lieblingsband zum ersten Mal zu hören. Dieses ‘Wie in alten Zeiten’-Gefühl wollten wir durch die Überraschungs-Veröffentlichung übermitteln! Zur Hölle mit den Charts, Playlist-Präsentationen und 1000 sinnlosen Reviews im Voraus. Was zählt ist, was ein Album auf lange Zeit bedeutet, nicht wie hoch sein ‘Wert’ am Veröffentlichungstag ist.”
Lord of the Lost war von Anfang an klar, dass sie damit jegliche Chance, in die Charts zu kommen, damit verspielten….
Heute haben wir den 05.01.2023 und ich kann euch sagen, dass was in der Fangemeinde abging, war von einem anderen Stern!!!
Völlig unerwartet hieß es dann nämlich, dass Lord of the Lost um den heißbegehrten Platz 1 kämpft.
Und wenn ich eins behaupten kann, dann, dass die Jungs die beste Fangemeinde haben, die man sich wünschen kann!!! Wir haben bis heute alle mitgezittert und gefiebert.
Und jetzt freuen wir uns tierisch mit und für die Jungs, denn wir haben es geschafft.
“Blood & Glitter” ist die 1 der deutschen Album-Charts und das mehr als verdient.

Los geht es direkt mit dem gleichnamigen Song und dieser eröffnet das Album direkt mit einer Menge Energie. Somit ist direkt klar, was den Hörer erwartet….oder auch nicht?
bei Lord of the Lost gibt es keine Schubladen und es gibt nicht ein Album was den anderen gleicht!
Aber ausruhen können wir uns ein anderes Mal, denn mit “Leave Your Hate In The Comments” ziehen die Jungs dann nochmal richtig an.
Mit diesem Song setzen sie sich mit einem wahnsinnig wichtigem und immer aktuellen Thema auseinander: Hasskommentare. Gerade auf der Plattform YouTube wimmelt es nur so davon.
Ein grandioses Stück, wütend, kritisierend und abrechnend. Natürlich haben sich die Jungs es sich nicht nehmen lassen, zu diesem Song ein Video zu erstellen:

In dem Video sind die Hasskommentare mit eingeblendet. Und auch sonst sagt es zu dem Lied alles aus, was es dazu zu sagen gibt. Schaut es euch unbedingt an!

“Blood & Glitter” bietet eine Menge Energie und zieht sich mit einem roten Faden durch das ganze Album. Diesmal bringt das Album auch einige und vor allem bekannte Gäste mit:
“The Future Of A Past Life” mit Heaven Shall Burn Sänger Marcus Bischoff
“Reset The Preset” mit Andy LaPlegua von Combichrist
“Save our Souls” mit Ally Storch (Violistin, Subway to Sally)
Als Bonustrack: “The Look” mit Blümchen

Inspiriert wurde “Blood & Glitter” vom gleichnamigen Werk des berühmten Musikfotografen Mick Rock, bekannt als der Mann, der die musikalischen 70er fotografierte – ein Großteil aller Fotos der originalen Glamrock-Ära stammt von ihm.

Das Album endet mit „One Last Song“, zu dem Chris Harms sagt:
„Ich habe mich gefragt, welchen Song ich als Letztes singen wollen würden, bevor ich sterbe und festgestellt, dass es diesen Song noch nicht gab. Hier ist er also.
Vermutlich der wichtigste Song, den ich je geschrieben habe.
An dieser Stelle möchte ich mich für den Song bedanken, er geht mir wirklich sehr unter die Haut.
Ich hatte echt Tränen in den Augen, da er so viel aussagt und damit hast du wirklich einen wahnsinnig wichtigen Song geschrieben!
Er ist so wahnsinnig toll und es ist toll, dass du diesen Song geschrieben hast.

Mein absoluter Lieblingssong ist “Absolute Attitude”.

Fazit

Ich finde das Fazit immer am schwierigsten, vor allem wenn ein Album einen so sprachlos und voller Emotionen zurücklässt.
Was ein Brett! So viel Energie, so viel Authentizität und so viel Lord of the Lost!!!
Es ist eine wahre Freude, für die Ohren, für die Seele und das Herz!
Und ihr habt euch die #1 mit diesem Album wirklich mehr als verdient.

Lord of the Lost, anyone who knows the guys knows that there is never normal. But this time they have outdone themselves. Quite surprisingly and completely unexpectedly, virtually overnight, they released their eighth studio album “Blood & Glitter” on December 30.

Band head Chris Harms reveals what prompted the dark rock band to make this release schedule:

“In a time when the marketing madness for each album seems to last longer and longer, and half of the record – or more – is already known six months before the release through previously released singles, so that the high pre-sale numbers achieve the highest possible chart result, what it should really be about is getting more and more lost: the pure magic of hearing an album of your favorite band for the first time. This ‘just like old times’ feeling is what we wanted to convey through the surprise release! To hell with the charts, playlist presentations and 1000 pointless reviews in advance. What matters is what an album means in the long run, not how high its ‘value’ is on release day.”
Lord of the Lost knew from the start that they were blowing any chance of charting with this….
Today we have the 05.01.2023 and I can tell you that what went down in the fan community was from another star!!!!
Completely unexpectedly it was then said that Lord of the Lost fights for the much sought-after place 1.
And if there’s one thing I can say, it’s that these guys have the best fan base you could ever wish for! We have all trembled and fevered along until today.
And now we are really happy with and for the guys, because we made it.
“Blood & Glitter” is the 1 of the German album charts and more than deserved.

It starts directly with the song of the same name and this opens the album directly with a lot of energy. Thus, it is directly clear what awaits the listener….or not?
with Lord of the Lost there are no pigeonholes and there is not one album what resembles the others!
But we can rest another time, because with “Leave Your Hate In The Comments” the guys then again really pull.
With this song they deal with an incredibly important and always topical issue: hate comments. Especially on the platform YouTube it is teeming with them.
A terrific piece, angry, criticizing and settling. Of course, the guys did not miss the opportunity to create a video for this song:

“Blood & Glitter” offers a lot of energy and runs with a red thread through the whole album. This time the album also brings some and especially well-known guests:

“Blood & Glitter” was inspired by the eponymous work of the famous music photographer Mick Rock, known as the man who photographed the musical 70s – a large part of all photos of the original glam rock era were taken by him.

The album ends with “One Last Song,” to which Chris Harms said:
“I was wondering what song I would want to sing last before I die and realized that song didn’t exist yet. So here it is.
Probably the most important song I’ve ever written.
At this point I want to say thank you for the song, it really gets under my skin.
I really had tears in my eyes, because it says so much and you really wrote an insanely important song!
It’s so amazing and it’s great that you wrote this song.

Conclusion

I always find the conclusion the hardest, especially when an album leaves you so speechless and full of emotion.
What a board! So much energy, so much authenticity and so much Lord of the Lost!!!
It’s a real joy, for the ears, for the soul and the heart!
And you have really more than earned the #1 with this album.
