Stelle dich kurz vor / Bandvorstellung

Hallo, ich bin Chris von der Band TAZENTO aus München. Der Grundgedanke von TAZENTO ist, die Einflüsse aus Aggrotech- und Hellectro-Sound mit Witch House und anderen Musikrichtungen zu verbinden und um hier etwas neues zu schaffen. Besonders im letzten Album „Netherworld Hotel“ konnte ich mich hierzu richtig austoben.

Wann und wie bist du zur Musik gekommen?

Also zur Musik selbst bin ich im Kindesalter gekommen. Mein Vater, kann man sagen, war ein sehr großer Musikliebhaber, und somit wurde ich in jungen Jahren, zum Leid meiner Mutter, schon mit „And One“, „Das Ich“ und weiteren Urgesteinen der Gothic Szene beschallt. Da ich mich selbst nicht als musikalischen Menschen betiteln würde, haben sich meine ersten Gehversuche mit 18 Jahren ergeben, als ich mit einem meiner besten Freunde die Band „Dekadenz Regiment“ ins Leben gerufen habe.

Das ging auch einige Zeit gut bis ich was eigenes machen wollte um meine Ideen im Kopf umsetzen zu können. Dies hat absolut 0 funktioniert. Dazu kommt noch, dass ich nicht die geistige Reife hatte zu verstehen, dass man nicht mit einem Klick zum Superstar wird und dahinter sehr viel Arbeit, Fleiß und Erfahrung steckt. TAZENTO selbst habe ich 2014 gegründet, mit der Idee, das Ganze nochmals zu versuchen. Doch ich scheiterte aus denselben Gründen wie die Jahre zuvor. Kurz nach dem Tod meines Vaters, der mich immer motiviert hat, es doch nochmals zu versuchen, habe ich 2021 von Neuem begonnen und wollte das Thema Musik ein drittes Mal angehen, diesmal mit einem Rucksack voller Lebenserfahrung und dem festen Willen, es durchzuziehen. Habe mich also neu strukturiert und mich mit einer realitätsnahen Erwartungshaltung an die Arbeit von TAZENTO gemacht. Nach jetzt drei Alben und unzähligen Songs, sowie Remixes, war das wohl die richtige Entscheidung.

Lebst du von der Musik hauptberuflich? Wenn Nein, welchen Beruf übst du aus?

Gleich vorweg, Musik ist für mich ein Hobby, aber eines was ich sehr ernst nehme. Im „echten“ Leben bin ich „System Consultant“ und „Ausbilder“ für ein Produkt zur Betrachtung der Abhängigkeiten zwischen den Business-Bereichen und IT in Unternehmen. Klingt furchtbar trocken, aber man kommt mit sehr vielen Menschen in Kontakt und ist immer am Ball bei technischen Neuerungen.

Wie entsteht ein Song? Erst die Melodie, oder erst der Text?

Das ist eine gute Frage und würde jetzt spontan – „Beides“ antworten.

Was ist deine Inspirationsquelle?

Ich habe es mir angewöhnt, alle Ideen und Bilder, die mir tagsüber in den verschiedensten Situationen durch den Kopf schießen, in einer Handy-App oder einem Notizblock festzuhalten. So kann ich sie später thematisch verknüpfen und natürlich auch, um sie nicht zu vergessen. Meistens kommen mir diese Impulse beim Pendeln zur Arbeit oder beim Anschauen von Filmen und Serien.

Wenn es dann an die Entstehung neuer Songs geht, ziehe ich diese Notizen heraus und überprüfe, welche Ideen zu meiner Stimmung oder zum Thema des Songs passen, um darauf aufzubauen. Ich habe auch das Glück vieler dieser Ideen/Kozepte mit Damien von Faktion[22] besprechen zu können. Er ist hier ein guter Impulsgeber, was auch viele TAZENTO Songs beeinflusst hat. Nach welchen Kriterien wird die Setlist zusammengestellt?

Da hast du mich jetzt erwischt da TAZENTO im Moment beim Thema Live-Auftritte nur als grobe Existiert habe ich noch keine Idee wie eine Setlist hier aussehen würde. Was ich aber weiß das „Down The Rabbit Hole“ mein Intro-Song werden würde, da er sich hierfür super anbietet. Am Thema live Auftritt werde ich definitiv arbeiten, um meinem Ziel irgendwann auf dem WGT spielen näher zu kommen.

Was bedeutet für dich Musik?

Musik bedeutet für mich, Teil einer anderen Welt zu sein. Jedes Mal ist es ein neues Abenteuer – sei es, wenn ich einen DJ-Mix höre, nach neuen Songs auf SoundCloud stöbere, ein Album im Ganzen durchhöre oder mich live auf eine Band einlasse. Was erzählt die Musik für eine Geschichte? Oder was hat sich die Band dabei gedacht? Geht es nur darum, in der Disco die Beine zu schwingen, oder lädt mich die Musik ein, in ihre Welt einzutreten und ihre emotionale Sicht auf bestimmte Ereignisse zu erleben?

Dies zu erfahren und es mit anderen zu teilen, das bedeutet Musik für mich. Es ist eine Form der Kommunikation auf einer anderen Ebene, die keine Worte bedarf.

Welche Musik hörst du privat?

Hier bin ich breit aufgestellt. Zum Arbeiten bevorzuge ich am liebsten LoFi und Wave. Beim Sport höre ich gerne Metalcore, und dann natürlich Hellectro, Synthpop und ganz viel Witchhouse. Sonst läuft auch mal etwas Trance, Techno und Minimal. Bin hier wirklich flexibel und wenn mich ein Track anspricht, ist es mir nicht so wichtig aus welchem Genre dieser angesiedelt ist.

Gibt es musikalische Vorbilder?

Ja, die gibt es! Lass uns mit der Band beginnen, von der ich glaube, dass sie mich am meisten in ihren Bann gezogen hat, denn es war auch meine erste Livekonzert-Erfahrung: Trommelwirbel für „Admuscia“. Außerdem haben Bands wie „X-Fusion“, „Wumpscut“, „Fraunhofer Diffraction“, „Suicide Wave“, „Skinny Puppy“ und natürlich “Combichrist“ / „Panzer AG” einen großen Einfluss auf mich ausgeübt.

Fünf Fakten über dich

Puhh das ist nicht so einfach was würde die Leser wohl interessieren. Okay fangen wir mal an:

• Der Name TAZENTO entstand nach einer wilden Wort-Orgie mit dem Google Übersetzer, bei der ich die Worte „Seelenmaschine Mensch“ zwischen verschiedenen asiatischen Sprachen hin und her übersetzt habe. Irgendwann stand da TAZENTO, und ich fand das irgendwie ansprechend.
• Mein Lieblingsfilm ist Bladerunner 2049. Dies hat mich auch dazu inspiriert, das Album „Technostate“ zu machen.
• Ich hatte das Glück, die Band Dioxyde live zu sehen, bevor sie im Off verschwunden sind. Das ist verdammt schade! Wenn Ihr das lest, würdet Ihr bitte nochmal ein Album machen und auf Tour gehen?
• Mein erster Remix war für die Band „Naive Dreams“ für den Song „Horda z Nieba“, und ich war wirklich nervös, bevor ich die letzte Version verschickt habe
• Spiele das Tabletop Spiel „Blood Bowl“ in einer lokalen Liga.

In den nächsten Wochen werden einige Remixe veröffentlicht, ebenso wie Songs auf ausgewählten Samplern. Gleichzeitig arbeite ich mit Hochdruck an meinem vierten Album „Villain“, das Mitte dieses Jahres erscheinen wird. Außerdem plane ich eine Remix LP und zwei bis drei Singles. Es passiert gerade sehr viel!

Introduce yourself briefly / band introduction

Hello, I am Chris from the band TAZENTO based in Munich. The fundamental idea behind TAZENTO is to merge influences from Aggrotech and Hellectro sound with Witch House and other music genres, aiming to create something new. I had the opportunity to fully explore this concept, especially in my latest album „Netherworld Hotel“.

When and how did you come to music?

I was introduced to music in an early age, thanks to my father, who was a huge music enthusiast. To my mother’s dismay, I was already being exposed to the likes of ‘And One,’ ‘Das Ich,’ and other pioneers of the gothic scene. Since I wouldn’t label myself as a musical person, my first foray into music occurred at the age of 18 when one of my best friends and I founded the band “Dekadenz Regiment”.

That worked well for some time until I desired to create something of my own to bring my ideas to life. Unfortunately, that venture failed completely. Additionally, I lacked the mental maturity to understand that becoming a superstar doesn’t happen with the click of a button; it requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and experience. I founded TAZENTO in 2014 with the intention of giving it another try. However, I faced the same challenges as in previous years. Shortly after the death of my father, who always motivated me to try again, I started afresh in 2021, wanting to tackle the music scene for the third time, armed with a backpack full of life experience and a strong determination to see it through.

I restructured myself and approached TAZENTO’s work with a realistic expectation. After three albums, countless songs, and remixes, it seems like it was the right decision.

Do you live from music full-time? If no, what is your profession?

First and foremost, music is a hobby for me, but one that I take very seriously. In my ‘real’ life, I work as a „System Consultant” and “Trainer” for a product that examines the dependencies between business areas and IT within companies. It may sound terribly dry, but it brings me into contact with a lot of people, and I’m always up-to-date with technical innovations.

How is a song created? First the melody, or first the lyrics?

That’s a good question, and I would spontaneously answer “Both”.

What is your source of inspiration?

I’ve made it a habit to capture all the ideas and images that come to me throughout the day in various situations using a mobile app or a notepad. This allows me to later connect them thematically and, of course, not forget them. Most of these impulses come to me while commuting to work or watching movies and series.

When it comes to creating new songs, I pull out these notes and review which ideas align with my mood or the theme of the song to build upon them. I’m also fortunate to discuss many of these ideas/concepts with Damien from Faktion[22]. He serves as a great catalyst, influencing many TAZENTO songs. Thanks for that, Damien.

According to which criteria is the setlist put together?

You’ve caught me there! Since TAZENTO, at the moment, only exists in a broad sense when it comes to live performances, I haven’t formed any ideas on what a setlist would look like. What I do know is that „Down The Rabbit Hole” would be my intro song, as it suits the occasion perfectly. I will definitely work on the live performance aspect to get closer to my goal of playing at the WGT (Wave Gotik Treffen) someday.

What does music mean to you?

Music, for me, means being part of another world. Every time is a new adventure – whether I’m listening to a DJ mix, exploring new songs on SoundCloud, listening to a whole album, or experiencing a live performance. What story does the music tell? Or what was the band thinking when they created it? Is it just about dancing in the club, or does the music invite me to enter its world and experience its emotional perspective on specific events?

Discovering this and sharing it with others is what music means to me. It’s a form of communication on a different level that doesn’t require words

What music do you listen to privately?

I have a broad musical taste. For work, I prefer LoFi and Wave. When exercising, I enjoy Metalcore, and of course, Hellectro, Synthpop, and a lot of Witchhouse. Occasionally, I also listen to some Trance, Techno, and Minimal. I’m quite flexible, and if a track resonates with me, the genre isn’t as important.

Are there any musical role models?

Yes, there are! Let’s start with the band that I believe has captivated me the most, as it was also my first live concert experience: Drumroll for „Amduscia”. Additionally, bands like “X-Fusion”, “Wumpscut”, ”Fraunhofer Diffraction”, “Suicide Wave”, “Skinny Puppy”, and, of course, “Combichrist/Panzer AG” have had a significant influence on me.

Five facts about you

Phew, it’s not that easy. What would the readers be interested in? Okay, let’s start:

• The name TAZENTO originated after a wild word orgy with Google Translate, where I translated the words „S4eelenmaschine Mensch” back and forth between various Asian languages. Eventually, TAZENTO emerged, and I found it somehow appealing.
• My favorite movie is „Blade Runner 2049“. This also inspired me to create the album „Technostate“.
• I was fortunate to see the band „Dioxyde“ live before they disappeared off the radar. That’s really a shame! If you’re reading this, could you please make another album and go on tour?
• My first remix was for the band ‘Naive Dreams’ for the song „Horda z Nieba” and I was really nervous before sending the final version.
• I’m part of a local tabletop ‘Blood Bowl’ league.
