Ocean Of Another ist eine kroatische Modern Metal/Metalcore-Band, die Anfang 2022 gegründet wurde. Die Mitglieder der Band sind auch Mitglieder der erfolgreichsten kroatischen Metalband Manntra und Bands wie Pale Origins, Zenoth und Grapevine Babies.
Sie alle haben bereits Erfahrungen als Musiker bei den oben genannten Bands und bei Bands wie Cold Snap und Monox gesammelt.

Die Themen der Songs sind hauptsächlich psychische Gesundheit, Sucht und innere Kämpfe. Durch ihre Songs versucht die Band keine schnellen Lösungen anzubieten, sondern einen sicheren Ort, um über die dunklen Seiten des menschlichen Zustands zu diskutieren und einen Ort der Heilung zu schaffen. Daher auch ihr Slogan ”Become a drop in the Ocean Of Another”. Nur wenn wir unsere Erfahrungen, Ängste und Schmerzen teilen, können wir anfangen zu heilen.

Bisher hat die Band 5 Songs veröffentlicht, einer dieser 5 ist ein akustisches Cover von Slipknot – Snuff. Zu jedem Song gibt es ein Video, das auf ihrem Youtube-Kanal zu finden ist. Im Dezember 2022 erhielt die Band den Ri Rock Award als ”Best Newcomer”. Im Jahr 2024 wird die Band ihre erste EP mit dem Namen ”One Day This Pain Will Subside” veröffentlichen, die aus 5 bisher unveröffentlichten Songs besteht und von 3 hochwertigen Musikvideos begleitet wird.

Wann und wie bist du zur Musik gekommen?

Ich bin schon als ganz kleines Kind zur Musik gekommen. Ich war 4 Jahre alt und meine Urgroßmutter liebte Pink Floyd total und ließ mich die ganze Zeit hören. Mit 6 Jahren bekam ich meine erste Plastikgitarre (es war ein Spielzeug), und ich verliebte mich sofort in das allgemeine Gefühl, ein Musiker zu sein. Ich dachte damals und denke auch heute noch, dass das die coolste Sache überhaupt ist.

Lebst du hauptberuflich von der Musik? Wenn nein, was ist dein Beruf?

Nicht hauptberuflich, nein. Musik ist ein harter Beruf, vor allem Metal, und die Konkurrenz ist groß, aber ich muss sagen, dass ich große Fortschritte auf dem Weg dorthin gemacht habe, also ändert sich meine Antwort vielleicht in naher Zukunft.

Ich mache 3D-Mechanik und arbeite in einer kleinen Firma für Videoproduktion, die meinem Großvater gehört.

Lebst du hauptberuflich von der Musik? Wenn nein, was ist dein Beruf?

Nicht hauptberuflich, nein. Musik ist ein harter Beruf, vor allem Metal, und die Konkurrenz ist groß, aber ich muss sagen, dass ich große Fortschritte auf dem Weg dorthin gemacht habe, so dass sich meine Antwort vielleicht in naher Zukunft ändern wird.

Ich mache mechanische 3D-Arbeiten und arbeite in einer kleinen Firma für Videoproduktion, die meiner großartigen Kollegin und Freundin Mara gehört.

Wie entsteht ein Song? Zuerst die Melodie, oder zuerst der Text?

Meistens fangen wir mit der Melodie an, obwohl ich ein Notizbuch und eine Notizen-App habe, die mit zufälligen Gedanken und Zeilen gefüllt sind, die mir im Laufe des Tages in den Sinn kommen. Was wir gerne tun, ist, dass wir mit dem allgemeinen Gefühl und dem Konzept hinter dem Song beginnen, bevor wir den Text schreiben. Auf diese Weise haben wir immer eine Art Fahrplan für den Song, der uns normalerweise sowohl beim Videodreh als auch beim Schreiben der Texte hilft.

Was ist eure Inspirationsquelle?

Mein Leben, das Leben im Allgemeinen, Filme, Bücher, vergangene Traumata, Schmerzen, andere Menschen und ihre Leidenschaften, Lieben und Ängste. So ziemlich alles, was mich fühlen lässt.

Nach welchen Kriterien wird die Setlist zusammengestellt?

Wir sind gerade dabei, unsere allererste Setlist zusammenzustellen. Wir haben die Band vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr gegründet und wollten erst einmal genug Musik schreiben und veröffentlichen, um eine Setlist erstellen zu können. Unsere erste Show wird im April in Zagreb, Kroatien, stattfinden. Das Kriterium für die Setlist ist also der allgemeine Fluss und das Gefühl der Songs.

Was bedeutet Musik für dich?

Alles. Ich lebe und atme Musik, so lange ich denken kann. Ich bin mit ihr aufgewachsen und lebe mit ihr und durch sie.

Welche Musik hörst du privat?

Nun, eine Menge verschiedener Musik. Im Moment besteht meine Playlist hauptsächlich aus Sleep Token, Silent Planet, Spiritbox, NF, Ren, J. Cole, Post Malone, 21 Pilots und Highly Suspect. Wie du sehen kannst, ist alles dabei 😀

Gibt es musikalische Vorbilder?

Ich schaue zu Corey Taylor auf, was den Gesang und die allgemeine Bühnenpräsenz angeht, auch Linkin Park sind eine große Inspirationsquelle, Bad Omens und Bring Me The Horizon.

Ich habe ein riesiges Tattoo, das eine Art Brust-/Halsstück ist (noch in Arbeit), inspiriert von den Dune-Büchern, da ich ein riesiger Nerd bin und Dune liebe. Ich habe es so gemacht, dass es mich immer an Lithany gegen die Angst erinnern kann. ”Ich darf mich nicht fürchten, Angst ist der Geisteskiller”
Ich bin ein großer Him-Fan und Ville Vallo ist einer der wenigen, denen ich ohne kritisches Denken zuhöre. Ich liebe einfach alles, was er herausbringt. Ich bin ein großer Fanboi, ich weiß 😀

Versucht, freundlich zu anderen zu sein und versucht auch, freundlich zu euch selbst zu sein.

Introduce yourself briefly / band introduction Ocean Of Another is a Croatian modern metal/metalcore band formed in early 2022. Members of the band are also members of the most successful Croatian metal band Manntra and bands such as Pale Origins, Zenoth and Grapevine babies.
All of them have previous experiences as recording artists with above mentioned bands and with bands such as Cold Snap and Monox.

Song themes are mainly mental health, addiction and inner struggles. Through their songs the band tries not to offer quick fixes but a safe place to discuss about dark sides of human condition as well as tries to create a place of healing. Hence their tagline ‘’Become a drop in the Ocean Of Another’’. Only by sharing our experiences, fears and pains can we start to heal.

So far the band released 5 songs, one of those 5 is an acoustic cover of Slipknot – Snuff. Every song is accompanied by a video that can be found on their youtube channel. In December of 2022 the band received Ri Rock award as the ‘’Best Newcomer’’. In 2024 band will release their first EP named ” One Day This Pain Will Subside ” which consists of 5 previously unreleased songs accompanied by 3 high end music videos.

When and how did you / you come to music?

I came into music as a really small kid. I was 4 years old and my great grandma absolutely loved Pink Floyd and made me play it to hear all the time. At 6 years old I got my first plastic guitar (it was a toy) that made me immedieatly fall in love with the general feel of being a muisician. I thought then and I still do now that that’s the coolest thing ever.

Do you live from music full-time? If no, what is your profession?

Not full time no. Music is a hard profession especially metal and the competition is great but I have to say I’ve been making great progress toward that reality tho so maybe in the near future my answer changes.

I do 3D mechanical work and work in a small company for video production that is owned by my great colleague and friend Mara.

How is a song created? First the melody, or first the lyrics?

Most of the time we start with the melody although I do have a notebook and notes app filled with random thoughts and lines that appear in my mind throughout the day. What we like to do tho is that we usually start with the general feel and concept behind the song before writing lyrics. That way we always have a sort of roadmap for the song that usually helps us with making video aswell as writing lyrics.

What is your source of inspiration?

My life, life in general, movies, books, past trauma, pains, other people and their passions,loves and fears. Pretty much anything that makes me feel.

According to which criteria is the setlist put together?

We are just now in the process of forming our very first setlist. We started this band a little over a year ago and first we wanted to put out and write enough music to actually be able to form a setlist. Our first show will be in April in Zagreb, Croatia. So the criteria for setlist is actually the general flow and feel of the songs.

What does music mean to you?

Everything. I have been living and breathing music as long as I can remember. I grew up with it and I live with it and through it.

What music do you listen to privately?

Well a lot of different music. At the moment my playlist consists mostly of Sleep Token, Silent Planet, Spiritbox, NF, Ren, J. Cole, Post Malone, 21 pilots and Highly Suspect. As you can see all over the place 😀

Are there any musical role models?

I look up to Corey Taylor as a vocalist and general stage presence, also Linkin Park are a great source of inspiration, Bad Omens and Bring Me The Horizon.

4. I have a huge tattoo that’s kinda chest/neck piece (still in progress) inspired with Dune books as I am a huuuge nerd and love Dune. Did it so it can remind me of Lithany against fear always. ”I must not fear, fear is the mind killer”
5. I am a huge Him fan and Ville Vallo is one of the very few people I listen without critical thinking.
