Electra Black ist ein junges Synthpop / Dark Electro Projekt aus Hamburg. Am 8.9. erschien ihre Debut EP “New Adventure” mit drei melodisch elektronischen Songs, die stilistisch an Solar Fake, VNV Nation und Mesh erinnern. Ein Schuss Nena und Pet Shop Boys bringen den allseits beliebten 80er Vibe ein und die klare, helle Frauenstimme sorgt für eine ordentliche Portion Abwechslung in der sonst von Männern dominierten, dunklen Szene!
Wann und wie bist du zur Musik gekommen?
Zur Musik kam ich eher zufällig, als mein Freund (und heutiger Produzent) mir Ende 2021 sagte, dass ich offenbar eine recht gute Singstimme habe. Singen war schon immer etwas besonderes für mich, doch habe ich mich das bisher nur hinter verschlossener Tür oder ganz klassisch unter der Dusche getraut. Nachdem er mich überzeugt hat, etwas aufzunehmen, merkte ich, dass es tatsächlich vorzeigbar ist. So nahm ich Online-Gesangsunterricht und wir schrieben den ersten Song “Nothing That I Miss”.
Lebst du von der Musik hauptberuflich? Wenn Nein, welchen Beruf übst du aus?
Da die Musik für mich etwas ganz Neues ist, kann ich natürlich nicht davon leben und gehe einem ganz normalen Beruf nach.
Wie entsteht ein Song? Erst die Melodie oder erst der Text?
Die Songs entstehen in Gemeinschaftsarbeit mit meinem Produzenten. Meist steht eine Melodie am Anfang, die ich ihm zum Beispiel vorsinge und er sie dann in “synthisiert”. Der Rest des Songs baut sich Stück für Stück zusammen, indem immer neue Ideen dazu kommen.
Was ist deine Inspirationsquelle?
Die Texte sind von meinen bisherigen, eher negativen Erfahrungen im Leben und der Liebe geprägt und erzählen von dem Bestreben, dies mit Glück und Freude zu füllen.
Was bedeutet für dich Musik?
Musik bedeutet für mich alles, hat es schon immer und wird es immer! Schon Nietzsche sagte „Ohne Musik wäre das Leben ein Irrtum“ und das sehe ich genauso. Sie begleitet mich schon mein ganzes Leben und brachte mir selbst in den dunkelsten Momenten Wohlbefinden ins Herz. Bisher habe ich alle Emotionen in der Musik anderer wiedergefunden, umso mehr freue ich mich, dass ich diese heute in meinen eigenen Songs ausdrücken kann!
Welche Musik hörst du privat?
Im Grunde all die Bands, die meine eigene Musik inspirieren: Solar Fake, Faderhead und Mesh sind ganz vorn dabei. Aber es geht auch in die rockigere Richtung mit Eisbrecher, Lord of the Lost oder Kissin Dynamite… Naja und was soll ich sagen? Die 80er sind stark, da bleibt der Fuß nicht still und wippt direkt mit 😀

- Auch wenn es vielleicht nicht so aussieht, bin ich eher schüchtern und arbeite bis heute an meinem Selbstvertrauen.
- Ich singe nicht nur gern, sondern bin auch eine leidenschaftliche Pfeiferin!
- Mein Auto hat einen Namen und ich spreche täglich mit ihm.
- Ich gehe gerne im Wald spazieren und genieße die Ruhe.
- Ich mag Gemüse und zwar jedes!
Was möchtest du deinen Fans noch sagen?
Ich bin überrascht, wie positiv ich von der Szene empfangen wurde und hätte es in dieser Form nie erwartet! Dafür möchte ich mich herzlich bedanken und hoffe, dass ich mit meiner Musik etwas Freude in die Herzen anderer Menschen bringen kann!

Introduce yourself briefly / Band introduction
Electra Black is a young synthpop / dark electro project from Hamburg. They released their debut EP “New Adventure” on 9/8 with three melodic electronic songs stylistically reminiscent of Solar Fake, VNV Nation and Mesh. A dash of Nena and Pet Shop Boys bring in the ever-popular 80s vibe, and the clear, bright female voice adds a fair amount of variety to the otherwise male-dominated dark scene!
When and how did you get into music?
I came to music rather by accident, when my friend (and current producer) told me at the end of 2021 that I apparently have quite a good singing voice. Singing has always been something special to me, but I’ve only dared to do it behind closed doors or in the shower in a very classical way. After he convinced me to record something, I realized that it was actually presentable. So I took online singing lessons and we wrote the first song, “Nothing That I Miss.”
Do you make a full-time living from music? If no, what is your profession?
Since music is something completely new to me, of course I can’t make a living from it and I pursue a normal profession.
How does a song come into being? First the melody or first the lyrics?
The songs are created in collaboration with my producer. Usually there is a melody at the beginning, which I sing to him, for example, and he then “synthesizes” it. The rest of the song is built up piece by piece as new ideas are added.
What is your source of inspiration?
The lyrics are influenced by my previous, rather negative experiences in life and love, and tell about the effort to fill this with happiness and joy.
What does music mean to you?
Music means everything to me, always has and always will! Already Nietzsche said “Without music life would be a mistake” and I see it the same way. It has accompanied me my whole life and brought me well-being in my heart even in the darkest moments. So far I have found all emotions in the music of others, the more I am happy that I can express them in my own songs today!
What music do you listen to privately?
Basically all the bands that inspire my own music: Solar Fake, Faderhead and Mesh are right up there. But it also goes into the rockier direction with Eisbrecher, Lord of the Lost or Kissin Dynamite… Well and what can I say? The 80s are strong, the foot doesn’t stay still and bounces directly 😀
Five facts about you:
- Even though it might not look like it, I’m rather shy and work on my self-confidence until today.
- Not only do I love to sing, but I’m also a passionate whistler!
- My car has a name and I talk to it every day.
- I like to walk in the woods and enjoy the peace and quiet.
- I like vegetables and I like every one of them!

I am surprised how positively I was received by the scene and would never have expected it in this form! I would like to thank you very much for that and hope that I can bring some joy into the hearts of other people with my music!
