Jenni: Ich freue mich, dass ihr euch Zeit für mich nehmt. Stellt euch kurz vor

Miseria Ultima
Hallo, wir sind zwei Jungs, die aus dem Norden / Lappland von Finnland stammen (und jetzt im Süden leben). Kimmo ist derjenige, der sich in unserer Band um die Synthies kümmert und Aleksi ist für die Vocals zuständig. Zusammen bilden wir eine Dark Electro Band namens Miseria Ultima.

Jenni: Wann und wie seid ihr zur Musik gekommen?

Wir haben uns beide vor etwa fünfzehn oder zwanzig Jahren kennengelernt. Wir fingen an, zuerst zusammen in Doom-Metal-Projekten zu spielen und danach hatten wir einige Vorprojekte in elektronischer Musik. Die Jahre vergingen und wir beschlossen, Miseria Ultima zu gründen – um Musik zu machen, die sich für uns richtig anfühlte und die Kreativität in uns weckte. Wir haben beide fast unser ganzes Leben lang mit Musik zu tun gehabt. Aleksi begann im Alter von 13 Jahren zu singen und hatte damals seine ersten Auftritte. Das Gleiche gilt für Kimmo, er hat sein ganzes Leben lang verschiedene Arten von Musik gemacht, von Metal bis zu elektronischer Musik.

Jenni: Wie würdet ihr eure Musik beschreiben?

Wir denken, dass die nördliche Atmosphäre unsere Musik sehr beeinflusst. Wir könnten sie also als Dark Elektro beschreiben, mit kalten und traurigen Melodien, wo eisige Synthies auf EBM treffen. Die Vocals sind stark von verschiedenen Metal-Bands beeinflusst, aber natürlich auch von legendären Industrial-Acts wie Suicide Commando.

Jenni: Wie entsteht ein Song? Zuerst die Melodie, oder zuerst der Text?

Wir arbeiten beide auf unsere Art und Weise. Aleksi macht die Texte und geht dann zu den Gesangsarrangements über, wenn der Kimmo die Songs fertig hat. Danach arbeiten wir beide kaum noch im Studio, machen die Songs und bringen diese in die endgültige Form – und nehmen auf.

Jenni: Was bedeutet Musik für euch?

Da wir beide schon unser ganzes Leben lang mit Musik zu tun haben, denke ich, dass sie für uns eine Möglichkeit ist, uns auszudrücken. Ein Weg, um einige philosophische Punkte des Lebens für andere zu vermitteln – aber auch ein Moment der “Magie”, um Dinge zu reflektieren und zu dereflektieren. Für uns ist es auch ein Weg zur Entspannung, aber auch ein Werkzeug zum Nachdenken und zur Reflexion. Wir nehmen ein bestimmtes Thema und denken darüber nach – in den Shows und im Studio.

Jenni: Was möchtet ihr euren Fans noch sagen?

Wir möchten uns bei jedem einzelnen Fan für die unermüdliche Unterstützung bei den Konzerten und rundherum bedanken – ihr seid mehr als wichtig. Wir hoffen auch, dass mehr Leute unsere Musik kennenlernen. Oh, und wir haben neue Songs geschrieben. Es könnte sein, dass wir bald ins Studio gehen, um neues Material aufzunehmen!

Jenni: I am glad that you take time for me. Introduce yourselves briefly

Miseria Ultima
Hello, we are two guys originating from northern / Lapland of Finland (now living in southern area). Kimmo is the one who handles the synths in our band and Aleksi is on the vocals. Together we form Dark Electro band called Miseria Ultima

Jenni: When and how did you get into music?

Miseria Ultima
We both met around fifteen or twenty years ago. We began to play first together in doom-metal projects and after that we had some pre-projects in electronic music. Years went by and we decided to form Miseria Ultima — to make music what felt right for us and awoke the creativity within. We both have been involved with music almost whole our life. Aleksi began singing around 13-years old and made first shows back then. The same goes with Kimmo, he has created different kind of music for whole of his life from metal to electronic music.

Jenni: how do you describe your music?

Miseria Ultima
We think the northern atmosphere affects our music a lot. So we could describe it as a Dark elektro, with cold and sorrowful melodies, where icy synths meets EBM. The vocals are affected a lot by different metal bands, but also of course legendary industrial acts like Suicide Commando

Jenni: How does a song come into being? First the melody, or first the lyrics?

We both work around our ways. Aleksi makes lyrics and then goes on to vocal arrangements, when the Kimmo had made songs ready. After that we both work hardly in the studio, doing the songs and producting these into final form — and record.

Jenni: What does music mean to you?

Miseria Ultima
As we both have been involved with music whole of our life, I think its a way of expression for us. A way to give some philosophical points of life for others — but also a moments of “magic” to reflect and dereflect things. For us it is also a way to relax, but also a tool for reflection and thinking. To take a some subject and ponder it — in the shows and in the studio.

Jenni: What else would you like to say to your fans?

We would like to thank our every fan for their unwavering support at shows and all around — you are more than important. We also hope that more people are introduced to our music. Oh, and we have been making new songs. It could be possible we are entering studio to record new material soon!
