A Complicated Genocide, das erste Album von J:dead (Jay Taylor), ist eine Entdeckungsreise durch modernen Synth/Elektro-Pop mit Einflüssen aus den 80er Jahren bis hin zum Hier und Jetzt. Erwarten Sie eine Kombination aus gefühlvollem Gesang, dunklen Synthesizer-Vibes und herausragenden Melodien, die Sie in Bewegung halten. Das Album erzählt die Geschichte unseres eigenen Kampfes, derjenige zu werden, der wir sein wollen, und die Herausforderungen, denen wir auf diesem Weg begegnen.

Das Album beginnt mit dem Lied “Feeding on me”. Ein Lied mit Ohrwurm-Garantie! Die Melodie ist eingängig und bleibt direkt im Kopf. Für mich auch definitiv mein absolutes Lieblingslied von diesem Album.
Es folgt “Rewind” ein melodisches Lied, mit coolen und gelassenen Vibes. Wirkt auf den ersten Moment gar nicht besonders, aber auf seine Art und Weise, hat dieses Lied seine Wirkung und muss man definitiv öfter hören.
Mit “Safe Ground” wird es etwas ruhiger und melancholischer.
Es bleibt auch ruhig, “Haunt” lädt eher mit mystischen Klängen und Melodien ein sich zu bewegen. Ich mag die Melodie von diesem Lied sehr. Es hat was sehr Rhythmisches und verlangt nahezu, dass man im Takt mit dem Fuß wippt.
Es wird noch ruhiger, zumindestens anfangs. “Fade In” lädt nahezu ein sich zu entspannen. Augen zu und die Klänge vom Klavier genießen.
Ein wirklich sehr schönes ruhiges Stück. Allerdings kommt ab der Mitte eine überraschende Wendung, mit der man nicht rechnet (hört rein ;-))
Es geht rasanter mit “a complicated Genocide” weiter, ein weiteres Lied, welches ich absolut gerne höre.
Mit den Liedern: “A Thousand Adventures”, “Out of my mind”, “Hair like fire”, “Ethereal, Esc“. Endet das Album eher ruhig, melancholisch und dennoch mit dem gewissen etwas. Vor allem das letzte Lied “Esc.” gefällt mir richtig richtig gut. Ich mag es wenn Lieder ruhig sind, aber sie einen so abholen. Es ist ein krönender Abschluss für dieses Album.

Ein rundum gelunges Album, welches seine ganz eigene Handschrift trägt, nämlich die von Jay Taylor.
Es ist anders, klingt anders und ist anders gut.

Expect a combination of emotion led vocals, dark synth vibes and stand-out melodies to keep you moving. The album tells the tale of our own struggles of becoming who we wish to be, and the challenges we face along the way.

The album begins with the song “Feeding on me”. A song with earworm guarantee! The melody is catchy and remains directly in the head. For me also definitely my absolute favorite song from this album.
It follows “Rewind” a melodic song, with cool and relaxed vibes. Seems at first moment not at all special, but in its own way, this song has its effect and you absolutely have to listen more often.
With “Safe Ground” it gets a little quieter and more melancholic.
It also remains quiet, “Haunt” invites rather with mystical sounds and melodies to move. I like the melody of this song very much. It has something very rhythmic and almost demands that you tap your foot to the beat.
It gets even quieter, at least at first. “Fade In” almost invites you to relax. Close your eyes and enjoy the sounds of the piano.
A really very nice quiet piece. However, from the middle comes a surprising turn, with which one does not expect (listen in ;-))
It continues more racy with “a complicated Genocide”, another song that I absolutely love to hear.
With the songs: “A Thousand Adventures”, “Out of my mind”, “Hair like fire”, “Ethereal, Esc”. Ends the album rather quiet, melancholic and yet with that certain something. Especially the last song “Ecc.” I really really like. I like it when songs are quiet, but they pick you up so. It is a crowning conclusion for this album.

An all-around successful album, which carries its very own signature, namely that of Jay Taylor.
It is different, sounds different and is different good.
